The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched the $34.6 billion Quality of Life Programme- (QLP) 2020 in an attempt to diversify the economy, encourage investment and contribute to quality of life and job creation, reports Al-Arabiyah.

The programme is part of the Vision 2030 plan by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to 'strengthen the cornerstones of the kingdom'.

The plan hopes to build the necessary environment to improve the lifestyles of individuals and families and to "promote new options that enhance participation in cultural, entertainment, sports and other appropriate activities that contribute to the quality of life, job creation, as well as, to encourage investment opportunities, and diversifying economic activities, while enhancing the status of Saudi cities in the ranking of the best cities in the world," the Al-Arabiyah report said.

The overarching goal outlined by the program is to get at least three Saudi cities on the top 100 cities in the world to live in list by 2030. It aims to do so by improving infrastructure, developing different lifestyles and expanding various sectors that affect people's wellbeing.
