Putin urges Iran to take US-proposed nuclear deal

July 13, 2025 00:00:00

MOSCOW, July 12 (Reuters/AFP): Russian President Vladimir Putin has told US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials that he supports the idea of a nuclear deal in which Iran is unable to enrich uranium, Axios reported on Saturday, citing sources.

Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim denied the report, quoting an "informed source" as saying Putin had not sent any message to Iran in this regard.

Iran said Saturday it was reviewing the details of a possible resumption of talks with the United States on its nuclear programme.

"We are examining its timing, its location, its form, its ingredients, the assurances it requires" from Iran for possible negotiations, said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Iran's lead negotiator.

Tehran and Washington had been engaged in talks since April, but those efforts were disrupted when US-ally Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on June 13, just two days before a planned meeting in Oman.
