749 Gaibandha villages come under power network

GAIBANDHA, June 12 (BSS): A total of 749 villages out of 828 ones of five upazilas in the district have been brought under the rural electrification network by Gaibandha Palli Bidyut Samity (GPBS).

GPBS sources said the Samity has undertaken a scheme to bring all the villages under power supply network by 2018 in fulfillment of the present government's decision to this effect.

Accordingly, the work on constructing power transmission line, pillar establishment and transformer installation have been going on in full swing.

Under the work, as many as 3524 kms of line with other equipments has already been constructed and the rest 192 km of lines would be finished by September, said an official.

By this time, all the villages of Sadar, Shaghata and Fulchhari were brought under 100 per cent power network.

The villages of Gobindaganj and Palashbari would be brought under cent percent power coverage by September, 2018, he also said.

Talking to the news agency general manager of GPBS GHM Wahedul Haque said necessary measures have been adopted to supply power to the consumers of the Samity uninterruptedly during the month of Ramadan.
