Authority finalises sites for two govt institutions

SYLHET, Sept 22: The official concerned selected sites for the Nursing College and the Institute of Health Technology in Sunamganj.

The government institutions would be established at a total cost of Tk 600 million on a site, close to the Sunamganj Government College.

Of the total, Tk 400 million would be spent for the health technology institute, while the rest for the other.

Meanwhile, the concerned officials started soil survey of the sites spread over three acres of land.

PWD would construct the nursing college and the Health Engineering Department would construct the Health Technology Institute, sources added.

The nursing college would have diploma and degree courses.

SSC pass students would be qualified for the diploma course while HSC would be the requirement for the degree course.

The health technology institute would also provide diploma and degree courses for the students.

Civil surgeon of Sunamganj Ashutosh Das said state minister for Finance & Planning MA Mannan, also lawmaker from Dakshin Sunamganj and Jogonnathpur upazilas, extended all out assistance for establishing the two institutions.

For reasons, the low lying and frontier Sunamganj district, which often suffers natural calamities is considered comparatively economically backward in all respects like education and employment as well as in health issues.
