Govt earning large amount of revenue from Kusumba mosque

NAOGAON, Mar 18: Government is being deprived from earning a gigantic amount of revenue every fiscal year from Kusumba mosque.

Thousands of tourists from every corner of Bangladesh visit the historical Kusumba mosque, finest monuments of Bengal, under Manda upazila of Naogaon district daily.

Along with tourist, the students of school, madrasah, college and university choose the historical place as study tour spot round the year. But, from the month of December to April, the mosque premises remain over crowded.

Meanwhile, the geography department of the renowned educational institutions including Dhaka University chooses the place a tour point. Besides, the authority concern doesn't take entrance fee from the visitors.

The authority concern urges on starting ticket system for the visitor whenever they will enter the corridor of the historical place. If the system begins as soon as possible, the government will collect huge revenue.

The name of the mosque was called according the name of the village Kusumba under Manda upazila of Naogaon district. It is located on the west bank of a big tank measuring 381m x 274 m.

There is a big courtyard in front of the mosque surrounded by a low boundary wall. This mosque is still in a good state as it has been well preserved. But, some part of the courtyard is occupied by illegal traders.

The interior of the prayer hall is divided in two bays and three aisles surrounded by 2.26 m thick walls. This mosque has only four octagonal corner turrets, one at each corner of the building.

The walls were built of brick core with stone facing up to the springing of the arches from within and the whole outside surface, but the arches and the roof are from bricks. Two free-standing stone pillars and eight partly concealed pilasters support the roof of six domes.

They are making somehow barricade for the visitors, condemn tourist Golam Muktadir Sabuj and Mizanur Rahman.

The historical place is bearing attractive appearance among the tourist for many days, said side attendant of the mosque Anisur Rahman. The mosque is being repaired every moment for rendering recreation of the tourist, he added.

The correspondent has come to know from the history of the mosque that it was built with precious stone transported from Rajmahal hill of Bihar through waterways as brick was not available during the time construction.

It may the source of revenue for the government if they desire. A good prospect is peeking to the authority concern with stick hands.

The authority concern said we are keeping a strong security to survive the mosque round the clock.
