Govt initiates modernising 250-bed Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital

COX'S BAZAR, Aug 15: The government has taken an initiative to modernise emergency department of the 250-beded Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will implement the project at a cost of Tk 112.5 million.

In this connection, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) and ICRC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the the conference room of the hospital on Monday last.

Physicians and nurses will also be provided training so that they could ensure quality services, Civil Surgeon of Cox's Bazar Dr Abdus Salam said.

Sources said ICRC will provide a comprehensive package of services including infrastructure rehabilitation, material and medical equipment support, capacity building and emergency response.

ICRC also plans to renovate the existing department while a temporary emergency department will be established during the time.

Joint Secretary of Health Services Division of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Md Saifulllahil Azam and Additional Director of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital Dr Sultan Ahmed Siraji were present on the occasion, among others.
