Husband kills wife for dowry in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, Apr 21 (UNB): A housewife was beaten to death over dowry allegedly by her husband at Piarapur under Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Josna Begum, wife of Sujon of Piarapur area in the upazila.

Victim's relatives alleged that the victim's in-laws in association with her husband tortured her for dowry on Friday night and at one stage they killed her.

To cover up the matter they tried to brand it as suicide and took her to the hospital, the family members said.

Resident Medical Officer of Sadar Hospital Dr Anwar Hossain said Josna was brought dead at the emergency unit of the hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Md Lokman Hossain said the body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
