KHULNA, Sept 14 (UNB): About 3.5 kilometres of Khulna bypass constructed in 2008 have become terrible for the movement of vehicles as it remains unrepaired for the last 10 years.

The road, constructed by Khulna Development Authority (KDA) from Sonadanga Bus Stand to Natun Rasta, has become totally unfit for traffic, said locals.

This correspondent detected several spots where both sides of the road have collapsed into adjacent canals, leaving the road in a vulnerable shape.

According to sources at the KDA, it started constructing the bypass in 2003 and completed it in 2008 when the Specialised Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital was established beside the road.

Important establishments like Sector Office of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), BNS Titumir, BNN School and College, Anchorage School, Naval Admission Centre, Naval Colony, Police Lines, Mujgunni Shishu Park, Imam's Training Centre, City Health Centre are located along the road.

Students, staff, government officials and others use the important road regularly.

The residents of Khalishpur and Daulatpur areas use the bypass while leaving the city and face difficulties for the sorry state of the road as vehicles get stuck in big potholes, according to the locals.
