RANGPUR, June 25: A team of high-level policy-makers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare visited the preterm birth prevention activities under the Born on Time (BoT) Project at Taraganj upazila in the district on Monday.

The visiting team comprised of Dr Mohammed Sharif, Director (MCH-Services) of Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), Abdus Salam Khan, Deputy Secretary (Planning), and Dr Ahmed Manaf, Regional Consultant of Family Planning, Rangpur.

The team attended a meeting of BoT's Household Decision-Maker Group at Kishamot Mena village and the Union Health and Family Welfare Center (UH & FWC) of Hariar Kuti Union and expressed their high satisfaction over BoT's on-going contribution towards reducing preterm birth and child marriage.

BoT is a five-year public-private partnership project working to improve newborn-survival by reducing preterm birth. With government collaboration, the project is being implemented by Plan International Bangladesh and LAMB, and funded by Global Affairs Canada and Johnson & Johnson.

"I am pleased to see the activities of Born on Time Project. I will share my visit findings with my ministry and will find out a way to continue the services at UH&FWC after the closure of the project," said DGFP Dr Mohammed Sharif.
