RAJSHAHI, Mar 14: Using advanced information technology, some students of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have developed an innovative website recently to help poor people.
The slogan of the initiative is 'Raise a Fund, Save a Life, Change a Life'.
Through the kandaribd.com, the platform would raise funds for those needing immediate financial assistance, especially for medical treatment purposes, and provide job information to the unemployed persons.
The platform will collect profiles of patients referred by doctors, and publish their appeals for help on the website after verifying their financial condition.
The university students are continuing their activities through an organisation named 'Micro Crowdfunding Platform in RUET'.
Anyone would be able to donate any amount from Tk 1.0 upwards to this innovative project of the students. This website is 100 per cent transparent, the website developers said.
One can see how much fund has been donated or received, in the website.
If someone requests for help, applicant's details including names, address, and financial condition will have to bebe attested by a gazette officer.
Verifying the the applicant's information for authenticity, financial help will be given to the beneficiaries through the gazette officer who had attested his or her financia;l status.
User can browse or take help kandaribd.com free cost. RUET students have included different organisations and companies as their associates under the kandaribd.com.
As a result, donors of the organisation will get special discounts for purchasing the products or services of partner companies.
Bokhtiar Hossen Pallab, chief executive of kandaribd.com, said, "If one wishes, he or she can help the poor with Tk 1.0 at least. Even we can change the livelihood of a family, or make a successful innovative project. Such changes can change the future of the country."
Another executive of kandaribd.com said, a sizable number of people of our country are living under the poverty line. If we all work together, their financial problems could be solved. So it will not work only at the university level. It should be spread across the country. Only then the poor, helpless and unemployment rate will decrease in the country.
At present, this organisation has executive committees in eight universities and medical colleges of the Rajshahi region.
