Three die as lightning strike hits boat in Meghna

NARSINGDI, June 12 (UNB): Three people including two women were killed and 10 others injured as a thunderbolt struck the boat carrying them.

The mishap happend in the Meghna river near Sreenagar village under Narsingdi Sadar on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Rehana Begum, 50, wife of Chan Mia, Farida Begum, 35, wife of Deloar Hossain and Quium Mia, 25, son of Mona Mia.

They hailed from Meghjanpur village under the upazila.

Inspector (Investiga-tion) of Narsingdi Model Police Station Mojaffor Hossain said the boat was hit by the lightning strike around 5.00pm.

The boat was moving toward Meghjanpur village from Sadar upazila amid the thunder shower.

They died on the spot.

10 people were injured in the incident.

The injured were rushed to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
