Tree fair begins in Rangpur to make people aware of plantation

RANGPUR, July 11: A 15-day long timber, fruits and medicinal tree fair-2019, started at the Rangpur Zila School ground in the city on Wednesday.

Rangpur District Admin-istration, the DAE and the Social Forestry Division jointly organised the fair.

Additional Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur Md. Zakir Hossain formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan in the chair.

The fair has been organised to raise awareness about tree plantation and social forestation among the people in the region.

A total of 50 stalls have been set up on the fair premises. Different varieties of timber, fruit- bearing and medicinal trees are being displayed in the fair.

The fair will remain open from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm everyday.

Meanwhile, a BSS report from Khulna adds: A fortnight tree fair and tree plantation drive began in Khulna on Thursday.

City mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleq inaugurated the fair at a function organised by Khulna District Administration with the support of the Sundarbans West Forest Division and the DAE at Circuit House ground.
