Enrolment exam for agri universities

September 30, 2019 00:00:00

Many admission seekers may not be able to appear in combined test for enrolment at the country's seven agriculture universities to be held on November 30. Authorities have limited the number of examinees to just 10 times higher than the total number of 3,555 seats at Bachelor's level. Calling this step discriminatory, a professor of Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU), Mymensigh, Dr Shahdizuzzaman, wrote in a Bangla daily that the 'excluded' applicants would not get back the fees.

Minimum grading in secondary and higher secondary examinations together required for admission to agriculture universities has been fixed at GPA 9 compared to GPA 7 in cluster admission test for general universities. The requirement was GPA 9 only for VAU in 2018-19. Patuakhali Science and Technology University then asked for GPA 6, Sylhet Agricultural University GPA 6.5, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Sher-e-Bangla University GPA 7, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University GPA 7.5 for seeking admission. We think, the universities should give a greater number of students, who would score GPA 6.5 or so, an opportunity to sit for admission test.
