Home-bound Eid revellers

May 25, 2019 00:00:00

Those who want to go to their villages before the Eid face many difficulties. Women, senior citizens and children are the worst sufferers. I think the government decision of keeping lorries and covered vans off the highways days before and after Eid, will ensure some improvement in Eid traffic situation on the highways.

To ease the trips for Eid revellers, law enforcing agency officials should step up their efforts so that travellers do not fall prey to crimes like mugging, stealing and robberies near bus stops, train stations and launch terminals, or even inside these.

The government should also monitor that the launch staff are not over-loading their vessels with passengers.

Finally, the home-bound passengers need to be careful. They should realise that their life is more valuable than time. They should not risk their lives by running after a speeding vehicle, boarding an over-loaded water vessel or sitting on the roof of trains.
