Importance of libraries

A library is a place where one can come to know and learn about world culture and civilisation.

Recently, North South University (NSU) celebrated National Library Week. NSU Central Library observed a week from February 03 to 09 with different activities. The theme of the seminar was this year's National Library Day slogan was "Let's read books in libraries and develop enlightened minds". The day of February 05 has been celebrated in the country since 2018 with a view to realising the benefits that libraries can bring to communities.

Libraries can help the nation to achieve sustainable development goals by providing digital information and knowledge to all members of any community. Library and information professionals should explore further how such information and knowledge can be made easily accessible for all people, thus helping in the construction of knowledge-based communities.
