Mbappe donates winnings to charity

July 21, 2018 00:00:00

We have seen the skills of young footballer Kylian Mbappe on the field during the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. The 19-year-old had scored four goals in seven matches of the World Cup. His football skills mesmerised the audience and helped his home country win the World Cup for the second time. Even out of the field, this kind-hearted young soul has proved his qualities for benevolence by announcing that he was going to donate his World Cup winnings, worth $ 500,000, to a charity for children with disabilities.

The Les Bleus and Paris Saint-Germain forward will be donating his entire winnings to the Premiers de Cordée charity, which provides sporting opportunities to hospitalised and disabled children. Officials of the charity have also mentioned that Mbappe often visits the children at the charity and plays with them. Mbappe is doing something similar as Arsenal and Germany midfielder Mesut Özil, who gifted his World Cup earnings in 2014 to support surgery of 23 children in Brazil as a personal 'thank you' to the people of Brazil for the hospitality they had shown.

Such acts by sports celebrities tend to inspire their fans. Maybe, while trying to copy Mbappe's abilities on the field, some of his fans will also try to make positive changes in the lives of those who need them.
