Random selection of BCS candidates for viva-voce schedule

July 21, 2019 00:00:00

The media has reported that the Public Service Commission (PSC) will be randomly selecting Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) candidates for their viva -voce schedule. They will decide randomly who will appear on which date. This new system will be applied from 38th BCS, which is supposed to begin from July 29.

This is indeed a good step by the PSC. Earlier, candidates were called for the viva based on registration number. It was observed then that many candidates filled up BCS application forms towards the deadline date, expecting that they will be called for viva-voce later. In that way, they were at an advantageous position as they spent this extra time to know what issues were asked by the viva boards from candidates who appeared earlier than them.

The new system of random selection of the candidates is justified. Someone who applied for the BCS jobs on the last day can be called on the first day of the interviews, and someone who applied on the first day of application may be called on the last day of interviews-all will depend on random selection.

It is also great that the PSC is appointing third-party examiners these days to evaluate the scripts of written exams of BCS candidates.
