Road accidents killing potential

During the Eid holidays, road accidents claimed more than 200 lives, a number which is too high to bear, given the human faces behind the number. The incidents of road accident increased during the Eid holidays and hundreds of families lost their near and dear ones. At least 50 per cent of the road crash victims were youth, i,e, earning members of families and potential nation builders. Many more were injured in accidents and lost capacity to work and lead a normal life.

As it is already known to us, poor road conditions, reckless driving, lack of official monitoring and poor transport sector governance lead to increasing number of road accidents. We still hope the authorities concerned will take necessary steps to improve road conditions, implement laws relating to movement of vehicles and thus ensure safer movement of people.
