Path to freelance journalism

A daylong session titled 'How to be a Maestro of Freelance Journalism?' was held recently at EMK Centre at Dhanmondi, in the city. Entrepreneurial journalist and CEO of Ra'dia Inc, Rabius Shams conducted the unique sessions.

Mohin Uddin Mizan, Founder and Editor of Writerspoint.org also delivered a session as a resource person during the workshop.

The workshop was uniquely designed to communicate about the required skills needed to build an impactful career as freelance writer or columnist. About sixty participants attended the event. This workshop was the first of its kind and aims to develop youth through the power of writing.

Organiser and speaker Rabius Shams shared his knowledge from his journalism career. He stated that the participants should follow several techniques and strategies to select a suitable topic and need to learn the process of publication in the news media.

Mohin Uddin Mizan talked about the definition of journalism as well as shared key points that the journalists needed to know on improving articles or features to grab the attention of editors and readers.

Representatives from partners of the event also shared their views about their roles in upholding the freelance journalism as a career.

The event is a signature initiative of Ra'dia Inc. supported by the EMK Center. Ra'dia Inc will continue to organise such session as a series in the coming days to promote freelance journalism in the country.
