Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit New Delhi in the first week of next October to attend the India Economic Summit, slated for October 03-04.
According to a primary schedule, she is expected to leave Dhaka on October 02, a senior foreign ministry official told the FE on Sunday.
When asked, foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the details of her tour would be fixed during his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar's August 20-21 visit here.
"So far, it has been decided that our prime minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Indian premier after the economic summit," he told the FE.
"In that case, her meeting with Narendra Modi might be held on October 05," the minister uttered.
PM Hasina will co-chair the economic summit which will be attended by dignitaries from around the world.
The theme of the summit is 'Innovating for India: Strengthening South Asia, Impacting the World'.
Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Hend Swee Keat, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar M Birla and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise executive vice-chairman Shobana Kemineni will co-chair different sessions of the event.
Hosted in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry, the meeting will build on its more than three decades of success, according to the official announcement of the summit.
"It will have a special focus on promoting deeper collaboration between South Asia and ASEAN to leverage their distinctive demographic and digital dividends to boost global growth and enhance our collective future."
This will be Hasina's first visit to the India capital after both premiers of the two neighbouring nations assumed office as incumbents this year.
In Bangladesh, Hasina won a landslide victory in the January 2019 election.
Modi was elected PM of the world's largest democracy for the second consecutive term after his party's stunning victory last May.
Dr Momen later talked to a group of journalists.
He said issues related to Teesta water sharing, Rohingya crisis, joint counter-terrorism and bilateral trade promotion would be high on the agenda of the Hasina-Modi tête-à-tête.
