The Met Office forecasted that the heat-wave might continue for next one day or two.
It recorded the maximum temperature of 37.1 degree Celsius in Dhaka on Thursday, while the country's highest temperature of 38 degree Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi.
The Met Office said the mild heat-wave was sweeping over Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Pabna and Sayedpur in the last 24 hours commencing at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
Apart from the heat-wave, heavy traffic congestion on many important roads also contributed to sufferings of the city dwellers in Dhaka.
Day-labourers, rickshaw-pullers, students and their parents, and working people were badly hit by the hot and humid weather.
Meteorologist Md. Ruhul Quddus told the FE that rain might occur in some places over the country's northern and eastern regions after the heat-wave is over. Besides, a low has developed over the Indian Ocean and adjoining South Bay, which may turn into a cyclone at the end of this month, he added.
