Thugs shoot contractor dead in city

A person was killed by unidentified miscreants at Mohakhali Dhakhin Para in the city on Sunday. The victim, identified as Nasir Kazi (50), was a contractor by profession. The miscreants shot him to death on the spot while he was overseeing tiles fitting at a mosque in the area at around 8:00 am. They left the place without any interception. Being informed by the local people, Banani police reached the spot, recovered his body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, police said. BB asks banks to use Bangla in lending letters

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Sunday directed the scheduled banks to use Bangla in loan-approval letters for implementing the objective of the "Bengali Language Introduction Act 1987". "All banks will have to use Bangla in loan-approval letters for implementing the goal of the Bengali Language Introduction Act 1987 and protecting the client's interests," said a BB circular. — BSS
