Chinese miner dies in accident at Barapukuria

DINAJPUR, Nov 8 (UNB): A Chinese miner was killed and a Bangladeshi worker sustained injuries in an accident in an underground tunnel of the Barapukuria coal mine early Thursday. The incident took place around 4:00 am when stones and mining materials fell on them while they were working in the tunnel, leaving one dead and another injured, said AKM Badrul Alam, deputy managing director of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company. The injured was given first aid, he added. The mine authority, however, couldn't reveal names of the victims immediately. — UNB

Dhaka-Panchagarh direct train from Nov 10

A direct train service on the Panchagarh-Dhaka route is scheduled to be launched on November 10, aiming to ease communications with country's northern district. At present the Drutojan Express and Ekota Express trains ply on the Dhaka-Dinajpur route. The passengers of Dinajpur-Panchagarh route were being deprived of direct train service with Dhaka. The two trains will ply the Panchagarh-Dinajpur route following new schedule and the Dinajpur-Dhaka route as per old schedule.Besides, the shuttle train service on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh route will be closed. — UNB
