Rajuk notices on owners flouting bldg designs

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) served show-cause notices on 825 house owners for deviation from approved designs, an official has said.

Relevant engineers, developers and plot owners got the notice following Rajuk officials' visit to the structures in September and October.

Rajuk issued first notice to 441 persons, second to 256 and final to 128.

It also demolished the deviated parts of 15 buildings.

Meanwhile, Rajuk has conducted a special survey from January until September where they found 2,04,106 houses in its area comprising eight zones.

At the monthly coordination meeting on October 28, Rajuk found that 8,730 out of the total 0.2 million houses are under construction in its area.

The meeting was to review progress in housing ministry's decisions made in the September 27 meeting.

Rajuk has asked zonal directors to make sure the under-construction buildings are inspected and take necessary steps so they are compliant with the approved designs.

As many as 630 designs were approved in eight zones in October, the meeting was told.

It was also informed that inspectors visited 1,876 houses and authorised officers 190 in September.

Of them, 1,282 were constructed earlier and 594 under construction.

Rajuk has issued a gazette on over 10,000 out of over 13,660 acres of land acquired for various development projects, the meeting was informed.

The process for a gazette notification on another 3,390 acres is well underway.

Housing ministry asked directors concerned to submit zone-wise lists of unapproved or unplanned buildings to Rajuk chairman by August 30 but to no avail.

The zonal directors were also asked to submit the lists of 40,000 buildings published in newspapers by August 30, but which are still pending, the meeting was told.

Inspectors were asked to visit under-construction houses three to seven times a month, authorised officers one to two times and directors one time.

The city development authorities have issued letters in this regard.
