10 including six lawyers injured as lift collapses at Dhaka court

At least 10 people, including six lawyers, were injured as an elevator of the old building of Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Court collapsed on Thursday morning, reports UNB.

Nine of the injured are- advocate Ayub Ali, advocate Sultan Ahmed, advocate Shamsunnahar, advocate Soad, advocate Kawser Alam Mithu, advocate Amin, liftman Md Jahangir, peshkar Md Sumon and an accused Md Sujon Mia.

The lift collapsed around 10:30am while it was coming down from the fourth floor of the 30-year-old building, said Mahmudul Hasan, duty officer the Fire Service and Civil Defense station at Sadarghat.

The injured were taken to adjacent Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital from where three were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and

Hospital as their condition was stated to be critical, said Inspector Bachchu Mia of DMCH police outpost.

Besides, two injured were admitted to Panghu Hospital.
