CHATTOGRAM, Dec 05: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the concerned authority in the government to restore supply of bulk LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) to avoid any artificial crisis and ensure a level-playing field for the businesses and protect consumer rights.
In separate urgent letters on Wednesday to Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Dr Taufique-E-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid MP and Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Md Nozibur Rahman, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam requested them to take effective steps in this regard.
He said the decision of stopping the LPG supply by the LPG Operators Association left a negative impact on the local market and might lead to an artificial crisis of the fuel which would cause sufferings to the people.
The unilateral decision of the association might be a conspiracy hatched by a section of traders to monopolise the business which needed to be investigated. At the same time, the government needed to take immediate steps for bulk LPG supply, he wrote in the letter.
