Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Saturday the government has taken measures for filing a flawless chargesheet over the murder of Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET), reports BSS.
"We have taken measures for filing a flawless chargesheet in Abrar murder case before the court soon aimed at ensuring justice to his family," he said while speaking at a function as the chief guest at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in the city.
Debate for Democracy organised the function titled "Present Government Moves Forward for Establishing Good Governance" with its president Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron in the chair.
The minister said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina successfully brought terrorism and militancy under control, adding, "Now drives are being conducted against corruption and illegal drugs because the government has been moving forward with 'zero tolerance' policy against graft and illegal drugs."
He said, "We are not conducting drives against any sector or area. Drives are being operated based on irregularity and corruption so that corrupt persons and grabbers could not indulge in any irregularity and corruption."
Kamal said the drive will be continued until elimination of corruption and illegal drugs from the country side by side establishing a beautiful society for the new generation.
"The government is re-arranging RAB, BGB and Police along with the law enforcement agencies as sustainable development needs sustainable security system," he added.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's spirit was to establish a non-communal Bangladesh. "But we lost the path after the brutal killing of Bangabandhu. Now we have moved long ahead under the leadership of
his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to establish a non-communal Bangladesh," he added.
Referring to the Awami League government's rule, the minister said Durga puja was celebrated at around 32,000 puja mandops across the country.
The number of puja mandops was only 9,000-10,000 when Awami League assumed power in 2009, he added.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court sent two accused to jail
after end of their five-day remand in a case lodged over beating BUET student Abrar Fahad to death.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order as investigation officer and detective Branch Inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced
Shamim Billah and Moayej Abu Hurayrah before court on Saturday.
