Fazle Fahim new FBCCI president

Apex trade body FBCCI has named Sheikh Fazle Fahim as president for the 2019-2021 term, reports bdnews24.com.

Md Ali Ashraf, MP, Chairman of the FBCCI Election Board, officially announced the names of the new office bearers on Monday after the candidates were elected unopposed.

Fazle Fahim representing the Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been elected the 22nd president of the umbrella trade body of Bangladesh.

Md Muntakim Ashraf representing Bangladesh Cold Storage Association has been elected senior vice president.

Six more vice presidents both from Chamber and Association Groups have also been elected.

They include Chamber Group's Hasina Newaaz from Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Md Rejaul Kariem Rejnu from Jamalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dilip Kumar Agarwala from Chuadanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The VPs of the Association Group are Md Siddiqur Rahman from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Mir Nizam Uddin Ahmed from Bangladesh Electrical Association, and Nizamuddin Rajesh from Bangladesh Secondary Quality Tinplate Importers and Merchants Association.

Prime Minister's Adviser Salman F Rahman, outgoing FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and the newly elected president Fahim addressed the ceremony marking the announcement. Son of Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, MP, Fazle Fahim has served the outgoing FBCCI committee of executives as its senior vice-president.

The president and three vice-presidents were elected from the Chamber Group while the post of senior vice-chairman and three other VPs went to the Association Group this time in line with the organisation's charter.

The eight are among 42 directors elected from both groups with 21 from each.
