The government Monday appointed Abdur Rouf Talukder as finance secretary (in-charge).
Prior to his appointment he was additional secretary of the finance division.
Mr Talukder replaced Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury who was appointed as Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh on Sunday.
A member of former secretariat cadre of 1985 batch, Mr Talukder in his long career worked on budget preparation and monitoring, macroeconomic management, fiscal policy, and financial management, among others.
He also worked as executive project director of Skills for Employment Investment Programme, and served as first secretary (commercial) of Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
Studied at Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of University of Dhaka, Mr Talukder also has a post-graduation degree in development management from University of Birmingham.
