Acquire proper edn for a hunger-free society

Speaker urges students

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged the students on Tuesday to help create a hunger, poverty and discrimination- free society through acquiring proper education, reports UNB.

"Education is the key to elimination of gender inequality, reduction of poverty, creation of a sustainable world; education is the key to success", she said.

The Jatiya Sangsad Speaker made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an award- giving ceremony to recognise students who excelled in the O and A-level examinations in the 2017 and 2018 academic sessions

The 'Change Makers Awards' programme was held under the joint aegis of the World University of Bangladesh and the Daily Sun at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

Speaker distributed medals and certificates among 655 English-medium students of 73 institutes for their brilliant results in the O and A-level examinations.

Inviting students to get connected with information-technology, Speaker urged them to make proper utilisation of their time to build a bright future.

"It is beginning of new dawn; a new chapter waiting for you. Education is most powerful that you can use to change the world", Speaker said.

The students of the new generation will lead Bangladesh on its new journey, he added.

"Bangladesh is moving forward in a very fast pace towards economic and social development. Digital Bangladesh today is a reality", she added.

University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan and The Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury also spoke at the the programme chaired by the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) Vice Chancellor Prof Abdul Mannan Choudhury.
