Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon's car has been hit by a bus Balaka Paribahan, reports bdnews24.com.

The former minister was unharmed in the accident which took place near a police box adjacent to the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in the city on Friday morning.

Menon said that he was headed to the Shahjalal International Airport when the Balaka Paribahan bus suddenly picked up speed and collided with his vehicle while trying to overtake it.

"A sergeant stopped the bus immediately. The vehicle didn't have any registration papers while the driver was also without a driving licence" said Menon, chairman of parliamentary standing committee on the social welfare ministry.

"I didn't suffer any harm. But there could have been serious consequences if the bus travelled any faster."

Menon was accompanied by his gunman and another person in car at the time of the incident.

Police have seized the bus and detained its driver, said Md Borhan Uddin, an inspector (investigation) of the Banani police.
