Bus kills bike rider in city

A motorcycle rider was killed after his vehicle was rammed by a bus in the city's Shewrapara area on Monday.

The accident occurred in front of the Modern Wood Furniture store in West Shewrapara at around 10:15 am on the day, officer in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station Dadan Fakir told the newsmen.

The victim was identified as Nurul Islam Shanto, a motor mechanic, who resided in Mogbazar area in the city.

The OC said Shanto was thrown from his motorcycle and was critically injured when a bus of Tetulia Paribahan that plies on Abdullahpur-Mohammadpur route hit his vehicle from behind.

He was recovered and taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
