'Drug trader' dies in Cox's Bazar 'gunfight' with police in Teknaf

COX'S BAZAR, Mar 11 (UNB): A suspected drug trader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Satghoria Para in Teknaf Upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 23, son of Shah Alam, a resident of Moheshkhaliapata in Howaikang union.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station said being tipped off that a group of drug traders would gather in the area a team of police conducted a drive at around 04:00 am.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gun battle.
