DU honours five teachers, 37 students with Dean's Award

A total of 37 students of different departments under the Science Faculty of Dhaka University (DU) have received Dean's Award for their outstanding academic results in BS (Hons) examinations for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Besides, five teachers of the faculty have also received the Dean's Award for their extra-ordinary contributions to research and writing books.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed medals and certificates among the recipients at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday.

Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad and Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin spoke on the occasion. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the awardees upon their brilliant achievements in the examinations and thanked guardians and teachers for encouraging the students.

"The DU campus is a place of adequate opportunities for the students and they should utilise these opportunities to build up their careers," he said.

He expressed the hope that the recipients of the award would contribute to development of the country in the days to come.
