'Mugger' killed in N'ganj mass beating

NARAYANGANJ, May 18 (UNB): An alleged hijacker was killed while two others injured after receiving mass beating by angry mob in Fatullah early Saturday.

The deceased Sajib, 25, and the injured Mamun, 32, were identified. The third hijacker managed to flee.

Mamun Miya, Sub-Inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station, said Sayham Ahmed Bappi, a second year student of Dhaka Commerce College and son of Nazmul Alam of Gabtali area, was going to college by rickshaw at 5:30pm.

The Mugger armed with sharp weapons waylaid him at Eidgah and tried to hijack valuables from him but settled by hand to hand fighting.

Locals caught the three and beat them while one of them managed to flee, OC added.
