Myanmar to work more closely with Bangladesh to address challenges

Myanmar President, Vietnamese, S'pore premiers greet Hasina

Myanmar President Win Myint has expressed his interest to work more closely with Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina in addressing common challenges for the mutual benefits of the two countries and peoples, reports UNB.

Myanmar's President has congratulated PM Hasina and her party Bangladesh Awami League (AL) on the landslide victory in the recent parliamentary elections and laid emphasis on strengthening relations between the two countries.

"Notwithstanding the challenges facing our two countries, I believe that, through our joint efforts based on genuine goodwill and good neighbourliness, the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Bangladesh can be nurtured, strengthened," said Myanmar's President in a message.

President Win Myint extended his best wishes for the continued economic development, peace and prosperity of Bangladesh during the third consecutive term of PM Sheikh Hasina, said the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated PM Sheikh Hasina for her reappointment for a third consecutive term.

"It is my firm confidence that under your able leadership, the Bangladeshi people will acquire more achievements in the cause of national construction and development," he said in a felicitation message.

He expressed interest to continue working closely with PM Hasina to further promote the friendly relations and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh in the interests of two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world over.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, has expressed his keen interest to deepen the growing friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and Singapore.

He also congratulated PM Sheikh Hasina for her re-appointment as the PM and Awami League's electoral victory.

In a letter, he said, "Singapore and Bangladesh share a warm and longstanding relationship, underpinned by strong economic and cultural ties.

I look forward to working with you to deepen the growing friendship, cooperation and people-to-people ties between our two countries in the years ahead."
