Rotary observes World Polio Day today in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 23: Aimed at eradicating polio disease globally, the Rotary District-3282 observes the World Polio Day today (Wednesday) in Chattogram as elsewhere in the country.

On the occasion, a colourful rally with the slogan "End Polio Now' will parade from the Institution of Engineers Chittagong to the Railway Shirishtola on Wednesday.

Rotarians said polio is an infectious disease that attacks the children, leading to make them crippled, disabled and even immature death.

The disease is very risky for the children below five years.

Coordinator of International Rotary Zone-6B and chairman of Bengal Shipping Lines MA Awal, chairperson of District Polio Plus Committee of Rotary District-3282 Wasiqa Ayesha Khan, MP, Polio Plus Programme Committee chairman Engineer Md Harun and Daily Purbokone editor Jashim Uddin Chowdhury, among others, spoke at the press conference.
