Senior journo Moinul Alam passes away

CHATTOGRAM, June 19: Eminent journalist and former bureau chief of the Daily Ittefaq Moinul Alam died in Toronto of Canada today.

He was 81.

He was under treatment in a hospital in Toronto and expired at 5.25PM local time on June 18 (Bangladesh time 3.30AM on June 19), relatives said.

He covered the historic summit between US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev as Ittefaq representative.

Moinul Alam worked as Chattogram bureau chief of the country's one of the oldest national dailies till his retirement from the profession.
