Three Bangladeshi mountaineers have conquered Lhakpa Ri (Xang Dong Feng), a 23,113-foot Himalayan peak in Tibet.

The climbers-MA Mohit, Bahlul Maznu and Shayla Parvin Bithi-reached the mountaintop at 3:00pm (Nepal local time) on May 17, 14 days after witnessing a terrific and tough situation.

MA Mohit, the first Bangladeshi who has conquered the Mount Everest twice, led the team for the first Bangladeshi expedition to Lhakpa Ri peak opposite to the North Face of Mt. Everest.

On the occasion, Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club organised a press conference at the National Press Club in the city where a flag-in ceremony was held.

The trekkers shared their 'herculean and hazardous' experience they gained during an expedition to the Lhakpa Ri.

Mr Mohit also presented a slideshow on the expedition. He said the team members had to go through tough time and face risk at every moment during the expedition. "We have become able to get experience and learn how to cope up with the nature," he added.

Executive Director of CAMPE Rasheda K Choudhury and Enam Ul Haque, a Bangladeshi who went on an expedition to the Antarctica and the North Pole, also spoke at the function.

The 7,000-metre Lhakpa Ri expedition was planned by Bangla Mountaineering & Trekking Club and sponsored jointly by Paragon Agro Ltd, Aria Foods Bangladesh Ltd, Emkay Enterprises Ltd and Azim Group.
