Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Mahmud Hossain has underscored the need for acquiring adequate knowledge on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through proper training for the sake of efficient case management.
He said, "An efficient administration can't be ensured without manpower having enough knowledge on ICT in the era of advanced Information and Communication Technology."
The chief justice made the remark on Sunday while speaking at a function styled "Certificate Giving Ceremony of Legal and ICT Training for Capacity Development of Supreme Court Staff for Efficient Case Management" held at the SC auditorium in the capital.
There is no alternative to time-befitting and subject-oriented training for the SC staff as it enhances their case management capacity and enables them to perform official duties efficiently, the CJ said.
Through the training, the SC staff could know about the code of conduct, office discipline and some complicated rules of the Appellate Division, he added.
He opined that the quality of the official activities of the staff has improved due to the training.
Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, chaired the function.
Sudipto Mukherjee, Country Director of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), appreciated the SC staff for receiving the training on law and ICT.
He also assured that the UNDP would continue its support in the process of training for the staff.
Dr Md Zakir Hossain, Registrar General of the SC, delivered the welcome speech at the function.
