COX'S BAZAR, Jan 10 (UNB): Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Sabrang in Teknaf Upazila early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Rashid, 47, son of Enam Sharif and Abul Kalam, 35, son of Abdur Rahman of the upazila.

Both of them are listed by the Home Ministry as notorious drug dealers, said Pradeep Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area at around 02:00 am, said the OC. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on them, prompting them to fire back in 'self-defence'.
