President Abdul Hamid has expressed the hope that intellectuals, including directors, filmmakers, writers and researchers, will have to work more on the Language Movement to spread its history and tradition everywhere, report agencies.

"The Language Movement not only established our right to mother tongue but also added a new dimension to the literature and culture, including story, drama and film. I hope intellectuals, including directors, filmmakers, writers and researchers, will have to work more on the Language Movement to spread its history and tradition everywhere," he said.

He made the call while opening the special premier show of movie 'Fagun Haway- In the Spring Breeze' at Bangabhaban Darbar Hall.

The film was produced based on the 1952 Language Movement, at Bangabhaban.

Describing the Language Movement as a memorable moment in national history, the President said, "It's a movement to protect the own nationality, individuality and cultural diversity alongside establishing right to the mother tongue. The unending spirit of Amar Ekushey provided the inspiration and courage for the rights of people, struggle for independence and the Liberation War. We gained the long-cherished independence under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through this spirit."

He said the movie, 'Fagun Haway- In the Spring Breeze, will play a vital role in spreading the history of those contributed to the Language Movement and establishment of right to mother tongue. "The new generation will be imbued with patriotism while the Liberation War spirit will be heightened with the theme of the movie."

Terming the sacrifice for the language a rare incident in the world, Hamid said, "Today, the spirit of Amar Ekushey is the source of inspiration for protecting the mother tongue and own culture around the world. I hope this spirit will help establish a bridge among different language speakers, revive the extinct languages, and present a world of cultural diversity. "

The President along with his family members enjoyed actor-turned director Tauquir Ahmed's new film 'Fagun Haway'.

Managing director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagar, its director and head of news Shykh Siraj, members of the Board of Directors of Impress Telefilm and invited guests attended the inaugural programme.
