ACC nab Satkhira DC office typist with bribe money

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested a typist of the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) Office in Satkhira red-handed with bribe money of Tk 0.1 million.

A team of the ant-graft watchdog led by its assistant director Mahtab Uddin laying a trap arrested the typist, AKM Shahiduzzaman, while taking the bribe at his office, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

In this connection, the commission filed a case with Satkhira Model Police Station.

According to the case statement, the arrestee demanded Tk 0.1 million from Mehedi Hasan, headmaster of Begum Rokeya High School in Debnagar union of Satkhira sadar, promising to have an application for Tk 0.3 million grant approved. Mr Hasan had applied for the grant to the DC office for the development of his school but Shahiduzzaman demanded 30 per cent of the grant to be approved as bribe.
