AL celebrates 69th founding anniv

Awami League and its front organisations celebrated the party's 69th founding anniversary on Saturday through different programmes in the city as elsewhere in the country, reports BSS.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the programme by hoisting the national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban on Dhanmondi Road no-32 in the city in the morning.

Marking the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid glowing homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at the portrait of the great leader in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban.

Later, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait as the party chief.

Senior leaders of the party, including Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, were present on the occasion.

Later, AL city North and South units, Awami Jubo League, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo Mohila League, Chhatra League, Tanti League and different political, social, cultural and professional organisations paid deep respects to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation.
