BNP-Jamaat main force of 'national unity': Menon

Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon said on Saturday BNP-Jamaat is main force of national unity as it is the outcome of conspiracy of the evil forces, reports BSS.

"National unity will not get people's support because it was floated to foil next general election," he told a meeting at Shahjahanpur in the city, an official release said.

Menon said senior political leaders including Gano Forum president Kamal Hossain and former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury forged the national unity but it was virtually a coalition of BNP-Jamaat.

He said the people will resist any undemocratic attempt under the platform of national unity for flourishing democracy.

Highlighting massive development under the government led by Awami League (AL), Menon urged the people to cast their votes for AL to continue development for building an economically advanced country.

Leaders of Awami League, among others, addressed the meeting, chaired by Shahjahanpur ward no-11 unit President AL Alhaj Md Kamruzzaman.
