Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Wednesday the government has continued its all-out efforts to control the narcotic menace, report agencies.

"We must get rid of drug abuse. We're putting in all necessary efforts to this end following a zero tolerance policy against drugs," he said.

The minister also said the government amended Narcotics Control Act to make it a time-befitting one while the law enforcers are playing a very strong role against drug peddling and drug abuse.

"Our future depends on our young generation as 65 per cent of Bangladesh's capable workforce consists of young people. We should not let them go astray. That's why we're putting in our every effort (to save youths from drug abuse)," he added.

Asaduzzaman Khan came up with the remarks while speaking at the inauguration of the Department of Narcotic Control's (DNC's) anti-drug campaign through digital device 'Kiosk' at its Shegunbagicha office in the city.
