HC orders disposal of Shahidul's bail plea by today

The High Court (HC) ordered on Monday the lower court concerned to dispose of the bail petition filed by renowned photographer Shahidul Alam by today (Tuesday), reports UNB.

Shahidul Alam is now in jail in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

The HC bench of Justice Rezaul Haque and Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman passed the order after hearing the bail petition.

Barrister Sarah Hossain and Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua stood for Shahidul Alam.

The bail petition was filed on August 28.

On September 4, one judge of a two-member HC bench felt embarrassed to hear the bail petition.

Later, another bench was formed to hear the petition.

On September 05, the HC directed the authorities concerned to provide first-class division to photographer Shahidul in jail after hearing of a writ petition.

Detectives arrested ShahidulAlam from his Dhanmondi residence on August 05 and the case was filed against him with Ramna thana on August 06.

Police claimed he spread propaganda through his Facebook account during the student movement demanding safe roads.
