JS adopts condolence motion

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) unanimously adopted on Tuesday a condolence motion expressing profound grief at the demise of AKM Maidul Islam, a Jatiya Party MP from Kurigram -3 constituency, reports UNB.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion in the House at the beginning of the 21st session of the current Parliament.

The JS also expressed shock at the death of two former ministers, one state minister, one whip and four former members of the Parliament.

They are former ministers M Shamsul Islam and Mamdudur Rahman, former state minister ABM Shahjahan, former whip Syed Wahidul Alam, former members of the Parliament Prof Dr Mohammad Sahab Uddin, Khandaker M Khurram, Amina Bari and Chaman Ara Begum.

The House also adopted a condolence motion at the death of poet Belal Chowdhury, justice Amirul Kabir Chowdhury, language movement veteran Prof Mustafa Nur Ul Islam, language movement veteran Chandu Mia, Bir Pratik Hamidul Huq, and organiser of Liberation War and economic adviser of Mujib Nagar Government Abul Khayer Chowdhury.

The House also expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in plane crash in Algeria and Cuba.
