The family of the fatal hit-and-run victim in Dhaka say they have been 'offered money' to drop charges over last Tuesday's accident involving a car of Mohammed Ekramul Karim Chowdhury MP, bdnews24.com.

Relatives of Selim Bepari, 55, say they will be given a sum of money which they can deposit in a bank and pay for the monthly expenses with interests.

Selim was a driver and had worked at Nawar Properties Limited for over two decades.

An Audi SUV registered under the name of the Awami League MP's wife Kamrun Nahar Shiule ran over and killed him at Mohakhali on Tuesday night.

Witnesses said Ekramul's son Shabab Chowdhury was behind the wheel during the incident, but Shiule, the chairperson of Kabirhat Upazila Parishad in Noakhali, claimed one of their chauffeurs, Nurul Amin, was driving the car.

Muhammad Imran Hossain Khan, the managing director of Nawar Properties, told bdnews24.com on Friday that the Noakhali Sadar MP had called him up and proposed a settlement.

"He (Ekramul) wants the case that started at Kafrul Police Station be withdrawn and in return, he will stand by the victim's family.
