BRAHMANBARIA, Apr 21 (BSS): Environment and Forests Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud today said the people of the country want to see a free, fair and transparent national election.

"We want changes through a transparent election that creates trust among the countrymen. We don't want any type of change that will destroy the country...We want moving the country ahead in unison," he said, speaking at a reception at Kuttapara High School in Sarail Upazila of the district.

Kuttapara High School organised the function marking its 30th founding anniversary.

Lawmaker Ziaul Haque Mridha, Jatiya Party (JP) district unit member secretary Kazi Mamunur Rashid and Sarail Upazila Parishad former chairman Rafique Uddin Thakur addressed the function, among others, with school managing committee chairman Hossain Ali in the chair.

Anisul said his party will join the next parliament election and party chairman and other presidium members would decide how the party will contest in the polls.
